Ökoinnovation 2009
Über die Programmlinie Unternehmerische Initiative und Innovation des CIP Programm der EU werden Markteinführungsprojekte im Bereich Öko-Innovation mit bis zu 50% co-finanziert. Als Antragsteller werden insbesondere KMU angesprochen.
Die innovativen Produkte, Verfahren oder Services müssen folgende Kriterien erfüllen um förderwürdig zu werden:
• Erfolgreich entwickelt - jedoch noch keine Marktreife bewiesen
• Nachweisbar geringe Umwelteinwirkung als bisherige Produkte, Verfahren oder Services
• Das Potential haben sich auf dem europäischen Markt zu etablieren
• Eine überregionale Problemstellung zu lösen. (D.h. dieses Problem besteht nicht nur lokal)
Das Ziel der Ausschreibung ist die erfolgreiche Positionierung von ökologischen Verfahren und Produkten am europäischen Markt voranzutreiben und zu unterstützen.
Die aktuelle Ausschreibung 2009 unterstützt die innovativsten Projekte bei der Markteinführung zu folgenden Themenbereichen:
• Materialrecycling
• Umweltfreundliche und energieeffiziente Gebäude
• Umweltfreundliche Getränke- und Lebensmittel Produktion
• Umweltfreundliche Geschäfts- und Beschaffungsprozesse (Green Business)

Infoveranstaltung zur Ausschreibung in Österreich:
CIP Eco-Innovation unterstützt Projekte (Produkte, Prozesse, …)
- die erstmals am Markt eingeführt und verbreitet werden sollen
- deren Entwicklung erfolgreich abgeschlossen ist, aber das Risiko der erfolgreichen Markteinführung durch eine finanzielle Zusatzförderung minimiert werden soll
- „Cleaner production“ Prozesse mit einer maßgeblichen Auswirkung auf die Umwelt
- Umweltfreundliche Produkte und Services sowie innovative Ansätze für „öko-design und öko-labelling“
- Öko-Maßnahmen die Firmen umweltfreundlicher machen (Green Business, Umweltmanagementsysteme, …)
Eco-innovation Call 2009 - Details
This programme is addressed mainly to companies that have developed an
- environmental product, service,
- management practice or
- process which has a proven track record ,
yet is not fully marketed due to residual risks.
The Eco-innovation programme is designed to overcome those barriers to further market penetration and turn these products and processes into Europe's future eco-innovation successes! Applications from SMEs are particularly encouraged.
This year's Call focuses on:
- Materials recycling: Better sorting processes, innovative recycling products, new recycling solutions for energy-intensive industries…
- Buildings: Innovative processes and products in the building sector, sustainable construction materials…
- Food & drink: Cleaner, more efficient processes for production, waste reduction, recycling & recovery, water management...
- Greening business & smart purchasing: Eco-management & Audit Scheme (EMAS) applications for clusters of enterprises, eco-design, eco-labelling, life cycle approaches, …
To be successful, your project will have to:
- have an innovative character and substantial positive impacts on the environment ;
- provide significant potential for replication , wider application and broader marketability;
- be relevant for and show clear and substantial benefits in support of Europe's environmental policy objectives;
- demonstrate a European added value and an international project dimension;
- be well thought-through from a technical and project management perspective;
- be cost-effective delivering higher quality through appropriate effort levels.
If you are considering applying, be aware that:
- Only technically demonstrated , high-quality projects should apply;
- €32 million are the total financial resources set aside for this Call;
- Some 40 of the best projects are expected to receive funding;
- 50% of eligible project costs will be supported.
Eco-Innovation Priority Areas in Detail
This Call supports eco-innovative projects in different sectors which aim at the prevention or reduction of environmental impacts or which contribute to the optimal use of resources. However, more specific priorities have been set up considering its important environmental impact. They are summarised hereafter:
In the field of materials recycling:
- Improved sorting processes for waste materials such as construction, industrial, household, electrical and electronic waste.
- Eco-friendly design and production of high quality consumer goods, innovative recycling processes.
- New recycling solutions for specific sectors such as agriculture, maritime, extraction, utilities.
- Business innovations that strengthen the competitiveness of the recycling industries.
In the building & construction sector:
- Innovative building processes or products that reduce environmental impact and/or support a rational use of natural resources.
- Green building techniques that leverage the use of recycled materials and renewable sources.
- New water-saving systems such as rainwater collection, grey water use, green roofs.
- Sustainable construction, maintenance, repair, retrofitting or demolition techniques.
In the food & drink sector:
- Innovative processes especially that reduce environmental impact and maximise the use of raw materials in the food sector.
- Cleaner and more efficient processing of food and drink products so as to reduce organic and non-organic waste and increase material recycling and recovery.
- New water management processes that reduce the use of water across the food & drink supply chain.
In the area of greening business & 'smart' purchasing:
- Highly transferable practices, processes and techniques that increase the efficiency and the sustainability of SMEs.
- Innovative forms of cooperation and knowledge sharing between local enterprises involved in the application of Eco-Management and Audit Schemes (EMAS)
- Innovative quality assurance systems that enforce eco-compliance and approaches that follow the principles of Integrated Product Policy (e.g. eco-design, eco-label and life cycle approach).
- Implementation and promotion of environmental criteria for purchasing decisions of enterprises (i.e. greening supply chains, innovative procurement approaches, internalisation of environmental costs across the supply chain).
