Details | An Italian SME with a good technological know-how, operating since 1983 on the design, production and commercialisation of devices for electrical conversion, has developed an airspeed indicator that can be used for unsupervised operation. The key feature of the anemometer is that it is powered by the electricity generated by the wind itself, without using any battery. The anemometer records the wind speed at a given frequency (e.g., every 5 minutes) and collected data are transmitted over a GSM line. The product may be placed in distant, unsupervised locations, and it can be remotely controlled. It can be used for acquiring data for the preliminary evaluation of wind farm sites.
