Abstract

An Italian engineer developed a mini wind turbine suitable for residential use. The turbine is a low cost product, can be easily assembled and installed, doesn`t generate any vibration and noise, is absolutely safe when used. It doesn’t need a mast to be mounted on, but can be attached to rooftops or other high structures. Industrial and financial partners are sought for starting the industrialisation.

Micro energy production through renewable energy sources is the future of residential houses. The present invention could be a solution for energy generation in windy areas. The proposed micro wind turbine is light, without any rigid frame and supporting pole. It is very simple,so that everybody, following the instructions, can install it. It requires minimal maintenance.

It is connectable to any existing high structure such as a tree, the top of a rock, the edge of a rooftop (anyway the version with the standard pole is available).

When disassembled, it requires a minimum space. It can be transported in a car trunk or on a big backpack on the shoulder.

It is modular, so more turbines can be mounted on the same axis.

It could be used as auxiliary power unit on motor-home or boats, thanks to fast assembly, installation and low space when disassembled.

The turbine is suitable for areas where typhoons are a frequent (as Caribbean states or India), because it can be hauled down as a flag and disassembled in a few minutes.

Innovative Aspects:
1. Power generator, reduction gear box near the ground > simple maintenance;
2. no mechanical system required for wind orientation > less mechanical parts means less maintenance;
3. the turbine is independent from wind direction > it fits in turbulent condition (residential environment or near the ground);
4. low cut in wind speed > suitable for places with low - moderate wind condition;
5. low acoustic and visible impact, simple geometry > suitable for residential
environment;
6. no need for over-speed control > less parts means simpler maintenance and lower costs;
7. materials used are cheap and easy to get everywhere ( apart from electronic parts)> simple to repair > blade system simple and cheap to repair.
