Abstract | An Italian company located in Sardinia is willing to license a technology for producing therapeutic protein as pharmaceutical active ingredient. Protein is expressed as fusion protein in inclusion bodies in E.coli (Escherichia coli) modified strains. Once extracted from cells and renatured, the fusion protein is cleaved using a patented enzyme obtaining the protein of interest. The company is available for developing customized projects. |
Details | The technology developed by this Italian company for protein manufacture consists of the therapeutic fusion of a protein in E.coli strain (Escherichia coli). The fusion protein is expressed at high yield as inclusion bodies and includes at the N-terminal of the protein of interest a cleavage site. During the downstream, after the protein folding, the protein of interest is obtained by specific cleavage of the fusion protein using a proprietary enzyme. Using this technology it is possible to easily obtain very pure therapeutic proteins. This method of production is especially useful in case of production of proteins with aminoacid other than methionin at the sequence N-terminal. Innovative Aspects: The technology in object is protected by four patents and can be successfully applied to any proteins and especially to that having an N-terminal aminoacid other than methionine. High yield and highly pure proteins can be obtained by carefully selecting the fusion partner of the fusion protein. |
