Abstract

A group of Spanish researchers have developed a new wind turbine that obtains maximum power even at high-speed air-draughts ranges (air draughts with more than 100 km/h in laboratory tests) and can be installed at ground level, allowing to achieve a lower environmental impact than the classical wind turbines. These researchers are truly interested about receiving further information of companies interested in the production of this turbine for market and industrial exploitation.

Details

Due to the technical characteristics of most of the current wind turbines used in aeolian parks, a technical limitation exists with regard to the power achieved and air-draught speed. Due to safety reasons most of these wind turbines must stop for safety reasons at a specific air-draughts speed level.

This new wind turbine is made of a mill with propellers around a twist axis, with the characteristics that there are two moving blades joined to each of these propellers. This system allows the turbine to adapt its movement to the air-draughts speed independently of the speed and direction, not offering any resistance to air draughts in any direction.
The environmental impact of this new wind turbine is lower in accordance to its features, mainly because it can be installed at ground level. This characteristic allows for example to save money in relationship with maintenance and installation costs. The most important technological advance of this new wind turbine is that the power achieved with this technology increases directly with the air draught speed, even at high-speed ranges.

Innovative Aspects:
- It can work getting the maximum power with a wide range of air draughts, without needing any orientation system.
- It can work with all air draughts, even with those ones higher than 100 km/h under laboratory tests.
- It offers a high security level, due to its ground installation (for example with animals).
- It can work under high-speed air draughts, getting high power results.
- For those air speeds within similar ranges, this system is cheaper than those currently used due to the saving costs of installation and maintenance.
