A Scottish SME has developed a remote surveillance camera system viewable over the Internet or a mobile device, specifically designed to monitor holiday homes when they are not occupied and to remotely manage when works are being carried out within them by local agents e.g. cleaning, gardening, handovers. Coverage can be viewed live or on recorded video (which is saved on a CompactFlash - CF - memory card).

Upon an alarm event (e.g. door contacts, Passive Infrared Sensors (PIRs)), video or text messages are automatically sent to multiple mobile phones (or emails) for verification. For example, when the gardener enters the area where the garden equipment is stored, the owner receives an SMS text message originating from the system and likewise when he leaves, the owner receives another text message. This allows the owner to verify that the gardener has indeed carried out his work within the agreed timeslot. The owner can also decide to view the premises live at any time. It can be used to verify visually if there is an alarm from the premises, or to check on the premises when it is not supposed to be occupied.

The system comprises a single or a multi-camera video processor with integrated high-speed mobile phone and CF card. High-quality, full-colour live video is transferred at up to 25 fps (frames per second) broadband, or 1 fps mobile.

The system has a ‘Plug and Play’ set-up, allowing users to simply plug their camera into the connector and begin viewing immediately.
The mobile version can be installed anywhere where there is mobile phone reception and it is completely wireless, being battery or mains powered.

Central to the system is the revolutionary lossless compression algorithm that generates perfect freeze frames to meet the requirements of the security industry for transmitting high-quality no-motion-estimation blurring images in a compressed form over the IP network (Internet) and over mobile networks.
