SCADA system for monitoring environmental parameters under industrial risk conditions

A small Romanian company has realised a system for monitoring and detection of pollutant factors regarding industrial risk and meteorological conditions in chemical plants. The company is looking for industrial partners interested in further development, application and testing the system.

Details

The system’s main target (in the pollution units) is to sound the alarm before accidents occur, and to maintain the installations at technological levels that do not affect environment factors. The system role (in areas such as District Council - Civil Protection Inspectorate - Environment Protection Agency) is to monitor the pollution units, the areas that might be affected by the pollutant factors, for keeping them at tolerated acceptance level. The system offers the required information to allow the operator to take the optimum decision. It is an integrated informational system of Decision Support System/Management Support System - SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) that leads to an optimal running of process and an increased safety in plant running. This system has a fully open, modular, configurable architecture. The system will be developed in four stages: - connection with technological process data acquisition equipment, water, air, weather factors; - informational system for existing pollutant factors quantity in plant; - system for transfer data to regional decision factors; - system and services for population, mass-media, personnel training.

The system represents an innovation in preserving environment and population health.

The system achievement is that it informs the decision makers in a territory about what decisions shall be carried out while an accident may occur. The object is a complete connection between all concepts of technological risk, pollutant factors monitoring, industrial security, and chemical alarm plan.

The system is developed based on the technological process analysis from the plant, on its efficient management and running mode, and on conditions and regulations regarding its safe functioning.
