Kurzfassung
A Madrid-based public university has developed a heating, ventilating and air conditioning integrated system constituted by a thermal power station and independent in and out pipe networks. This system can work as a sub-station of thermal energy for a set of buildings. The research team is seeking companies interested in licensing the Spanish filed patent.
Details
The system consists of a co-generation thermal power station connected to independent in and out pipe networks. This system can work as a sub-station to provide thermal energy to one building or set of buildings to guarantee better comfort.
Water is heated in the thermal power station and distributed through the pipes network. The sub-stations, located at private sites in each one of the buildings, are arranged so that a heat exchanger provides the thermal energy necessary to satisfy the demands of air conditioning (heating in winter, refrigeration in summer and sanitary hot water all year).
Fuels to be used should be the most suitable ones in each case; some examples are non-renewable resources, like natural gas and diesel oil, but also renewable resources like biomass or others.
The research team has wide experience in collaboration with companies in the following areas:
• Buildings facilities
• Urban facilities
• Saving, diversification and rational use of energy in buildings
• Urban atmosphere: pollution analysis and control
• Water complete cycle: advanced technologies
Innovative Aspects:
The system satisfies the demands of heating and air conditioning with optimal power efficiency, helping to accomplish the commitments of the Kyoto Protocol.
The system is versatile and can be limited to satisfy only the demands of heating and sanitary hot water. The latter can even be satisfied by incorporating thermal solar panels.
The competitive advantages of this system are the following:
• Improvement of the control of polluting emissions
• Reduction of power surges
• Reduction of fuel consumption (non-renewable resources)
• Reduction of costs (maintenance and operation)
• Increase of the quality of provision
