Kurzfassung
A Polish institute developed a method of manual brazing that is conducted with the use of an oxy-acetylene blowpipe. The brazing flux, deoxidising brazed parts and filler metal (reduces less and mean durable metal oxides), as well as protecting against air oxidising atmosphere within the whole process of brazing, is batched into the brazing area directly by the blowpipe flame. Partners sought: metal and machine building industry.
Details
The flux is delivered by acetylene, which is saturated with oxide vapours in the batching device (ADLT-1) connected to the acetylene cylinder and a blowpipe. Volatile flux provides the required conditions for rewetting by flux of joined elements, and capillary penetration of flux into the brazing gap ensures good joint quality with a slightly oxidised surface.
Innovative Aspects:
In contrast to flame brazing with the use of brazing flux in the form of flux powder and pastes, volatile flux is batched into the brazing area directly by the blowpipe flame. It does not leave slag in the form of difficult-to-remove hygroscopic glaze, which permanently adheres to the brazed surface. Brazing of tubular unalloyed steel elements of furniture as well as copper and steel bathroom heaters.
