A Belgian company has developed a software tool that allows the management and exploitation of data transmitted by telemetry equipment. The company installs GPS (Global Positioning System) devices in vehicles. All information concerning position of vehicle, speed, times schedule, temperatures is transmitted in real time to a server via various methods: GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) network, SMS (Short Message Service), CSD (Circuit Switched Data)
The data will be managed and organised in order to be able to present the synthesis of the activity measured on a computer screen and to place the database at the disposal of the customer.
The software has the following features:
- Localisation of vehicles in real time and events recording (working hours, distance, way, etc.).
- Turn an address into POI (Point of Interest) visible on the map.
- Information exchange between the company and the mobile units over the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).
- Information to the company about all the variations with comparison to the normal situation.
- Remote control from authorised people on the mobile units.
