Kurzfassung
A German SME offers a unique technology for the encapsulation of a broad substance variety. The encapsulation follows the natural principle of “micellation” - an encapsulation form at nanoscale done by the human body in order to absorb fat-soluble substances. Hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances are converted into liquid solubilisates (30 nm), which are soluble in both fat and water. They are interested in partners for new applications in nutrition, health, cosmetics and pharmaceutics.
Details
The human body needs to convert especially fat-soluble nutrients in micelles prior to absorbing them. Micelle structures are nature’s way of nutrient delivery.
A German company developed a highly sophisticated solubilisation technology, based on biometric encapsulation of nutrients and ingredients for functional foods and dietary supplements. Unlike the conventional emulsion and micro-emulsion particles with massive particle size, this technology delivers nutrients and ingredients in the micelle form in accordance with nature’s principles. Hereby the hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances are converted into liquid solubilisates, which are soluble in both fat and water. These solubilisates have proven to offer superior functional as well as technical application advantages.
The technology creates thermal, mechanical and pH-stable formulas (so called “product micelles”) within which the active ingredient is contained. There exists a core within which the chemically unmodified substance is present as the active substance surrounded by a shell, which is 30 nm in diameter and forms the micelles. The technology makes substances soluble both in water and fat in addition to enhancing their bioavailability for humans many times over. The company’s solubilisates are ready-to-use enablers for the development and production of innovative and pioneering products in the fields of nutraceuticals, (functional) food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
Where micro-emulsions and liposomes prove to be problematical and unsuitable, the product micelle represents the optimum solution in the fields of foodstuffs (functional food), cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (nutritional solutions for cell and bacterial cultures).
The German-based company has applied its technology to a broad variety of substances such as ascorbic acid, Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E or isoflavones.
Examples for incorporated lipophilic substances: Vitamin E, A, D; Omega-3 fatty acids, ß-carotene.
Examples for incorporated hydrophilic substances: Ascorbic acid, citric acid, sweeteners.
Plant extracts for incorporation: rosemary, various polyphenols.
The company is a leading supplier of innovative liquid solutions (“solubilisates”) for a broad range of well-known raw materials and active substances (e.g. vitamins, fatty acids or phytoextracts). It is committed to the highest standards and material criteria such as ISO 9001:2000, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) orientation, kosher, halal, GMO-free, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), BSE-free, allergen-free, dioxin-free.
Innovative Aspects:
Technical benefits:
- Superior efficiency for antioxidants (such as vitamin C).
- Superior efficiency for preservatives.
- Ready to use for production.
- High thermal, mechanical and pH stability.
- Superior homogenous distribution of actives in the end product/raw material.
Functional benefits
- Fully amphiphilic (water & fat soluble).
- No chemical modification of encapsulated substances.
- Crystal clear appearance also in the end product (instead of traditional turbid dispersions/emulsions).
- High bioavailability of active substances.
- Liquid and easy-to-consume presentation (e.g. in beverages, drinking ampoules, etc.).
- The technology enhances the bioavailability for humans of active substances.
- Processing without additives.
- Higher and quicker intestinal and dermal resorption or penetration of active substances.
