Kurzfassung

A German SME has developed a cost-efficient method for optimisation of audio signals in order to improve sound systems. The new process continuously determines and corrects audio/sound distortions caused e.g. by signal-corrupting influence of components in the transmission path (cable, amplifier, loudspeaker, listening room). Application fields for the new method are e.g. pro audio, home entertainment and car audio. The SME is looking for a partner interested in licensing the technology.



Details

Signal corruption by transmission components (e.g. wires, amplifiers, loudspeakers and last but not least the listening room) is a common problem for the quality of sound systems.
Therefore a German SME has developed a method for optimising an audio signal in which the difference between a predefined audio signal and a modified signal that results from the predefined audio signal is continually determined. The signal difference is continuously determined in the time and or the frequency domain to provide an optimised audio signal. An independent claim is made for a device for optimising an audio signal with an arrangement for continuously determining the difference between a predefined audio signal and a modified audio signal derived from it, and an arrangement for continuously determining an optimum audio signal based on the determined difference, whereby the difference is determined in the time or frequency domain.
The technical feasibility of the method has been proven by existing prototypes.
Market opportunities are verified by independent market analysis.
Possible fields of application are:
- Pro audio (e.g. for improvement of acoustic irradiation in terms of sound quality and speech comprehensibility of open-air events, cinemas, discos, halls, airports, etc.).
- Home entertainment.
- Car audio.

Innovative Aspects:
Signal corruption by transmission components (e.g. wires, amplifiers, loudspeakers and last but not least the listening room) is compensated.
Transmission behaviour of the whole signal chain is continuously monitored, analysed and optimised.
Negative influences of components not adjusted for each other sufficiently as well as listening room effects can be compensated.
This results in audio transmission in a listening room being closely consistent with the original signal. The system will continuously and dynamically react on changing conditions and situations
Application of the method results in an effective and cost-efficient response-characteristic improvement of sound systems.
