Kurzfassung
A university from the north-west of Spain has developed a method that involves preparing and homogenizing slurry of mineral-rich materials. A matrix or other suitable support is injected into the slurry, after which the slurry is heated and dried, producing the porous material. The university is looking for license agreement.
Details
The method prepares and homogenizes a watery suspension (barbotine) of mineral rich materials. The impregnation of a matrix and the consequent thermal processing of the piece involve three different stages: drying of the piece, calcinations of the matrix and ceramization. The obtained material presents a high open porosity and resistance to fire and water.
The final composition is mainly mullite and glass and it is used as an acoustic conditioner.
The final product is a ceramic material which chemical composition is made of, mainly, mullite and glass. It presents an open porosity and a large quantity of internal pores.
Innovative Aspects:
The material obtained is a possible substitute of several commercial materials.
Besides the high acoustic absorption, it has the sufficient manoeuvrability and a finished with high aesthetic value and enormous luminosity, allowing its use in false roofs and visible coverings.
The material obtained, given its chemical composition, is a material MO of easy manufacturing and with a low cost of raw materials.
The porosity is always higher than 90%.
Another significative advantage of the product is the extreme lightness and humidity resistance, necessary in several areas of the building sector.
