An Italian company has patented a new system for separate collection of municipal domestic solid waste. Thanks to a small household appliance it is possible to obtain the separate collection of about 92% of the whole domestic solid waste. The main advantages of this new system are a high rate of separate waste collection, cleanliness and hygiene, and a faster and cheaper separate waste collection. The company is looking for partners interested in licence agreement.

The company, specialized in the field of waste, has realised a new system for separate domestic waste collection whose Italian European and American patent guarantee as absolutely innovative.
At the moment several public bodies have expressed their interest for the excellent results of the system, and two Italian municipalities have developed pilot schemes.
The system is made of three components (household appliance, rubbish skip, motor vehicle). The household appliance, which looks like a washing machine and must be placed in the houses, collects, separates and compacts domestic waste.
The organic part of the waste can be treated in two ways: it can be chopped, reduced to pulp and expelled directly in the sewer system or in the cesspool, or it can be collected in the household appliance where, without bad smell or insects, thanks to regenerative microorganisms it quickly ferments and becomes compost. The system can be used by a whole community (optimizing results) or by a single family. The producer can address institutions or private consumers through the market.
The company can provide support for the technology of the system components but doesn’t realise components nor the whole system (for pilot schemes the centre has assembled and tested components found on the market). The company also put at disposal studies and information data issued from experimentation through pilot schemes. The system is absolutely innovative: a household appliance collects, reduces and keeps waste in separate parts; then waste is transferred in an apposite rubbish skip which keeps the different parts separate until when they are sent to the recycling system.
The household appliance can be put in any part of the house (it has just to be connected to electricity), it keeps clean and doesn’t smell. It is not necessary to connect it with the sewer.
The basic technology is essentially mechanical: the household appliance uses a system of press, knives and a chopper for organic. Presses compact, chop or cut glasses, cans, metal and plastic boxes, bottles of PET. Chopped organic can be carried to the sewer or cesspit, or can be collected in a can to make compost.

Innovative Aspects:
An absolutely innovative way to treat solid municipal domestic waste.
It is completely different from door to door systems which are generally bulky, not very hygienic and difficult to manage.
Two pilot schemes have shown that the system makes possible to reach very high rate of separate waste collection (about 92%), impossible to achieve through others ways of separate collection generally used.
If the system is used by a whole community, with the involvement of institutional bodies charged of waste collection, costs get lower and citizens can profit of a reduction of the fees for waste management.
In case of use by private citizens, the household appliance is easy to use, compact, handy and guarantees hygiene and cleanliness in the house.
The main advantages of this technology are both economical an environmental: the system allows a very high rate of separate waste collection (more than 92%), an extremely small quantity of waste to carry to the dump, reduction of traffic of refuse truck and of pollution, revenues from the sale of separate materials.
Citizens who have tried the household appliance relate that it is very easy to use, clean and hygienic. Moreover it is compact and it can be easily put inside or outside of the house (kitchen, bathroom, laundry, balcony, basement, garage, porch, etc…)
