Kurzfassung
An Italian SME has developed a mobile application and content delivery platform that allows large-scale distribution of mobile applications and multimedia contents via SMS or wireless networks. The company is looking for a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Details
It is a suite of Java Enterprise software tools aimed at distributing smart clients for mobile phones and multimedia contents such as text, images, audio and so on. The application delivery module allows delivering different types of applications - i.e.: Java ME (Micro Edition) or Symbian - via SMS or Web download. The delivered Java ME (Micro Edition) suites can be customised with user's personal or company data, which are dynamically embedded into the suite.
The platform offers two different delivery modes: the end user can fill the platform's Web form, or a registered and trustable third party can send remote HTTPS (HyperText transfer protocol over SSL - Secure Socket Layer) requests to send applications to their users.
The platform administrators can see real-time statistics of all delivered or undelivered applications. They can also configure all the delivery parameters.
Third parties can also see statistics about their own applications but have no access to configuration areas.
The content delivery modules are middleware applications designed to send lightweight, XML-based data to mobile smart clients, both in synchronous request mode and in asynchronous push mode. Multimedia files, or mixed sets of text and multimedia elements can also be sent.
A new XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) format, the Simple Mobile News Format (SMNF) has been defined in order to reduce the overhead of common Web formats such as RSS (Really Simple Syndication). The platform's internal format converted transforms RSS, ATOM (XML-based document format) or NITF formats (News Industry Text Format) into SMNF.
Java clients with Push registry support can also receive small contents via SMS.
Innovative Aspects:
- A new lightweight XML format for textual contents (SMNF).
- Platform independent content delivery and handling.
