It is particularly suitable for facilitating the opening of envelopes made with plastic or multifilm hardy material or when the use of prearranged breaking parts are not allowed for safety reasons. An Italian entrepreneur has developed a system that facilitates the opening of plastic envelopes assuring a complete integrity of the envelope itself.
The system consists in a metallic part arranged on the envelop during its production process. This part is a sort of tongue suitably shaped to have a cutting portion that enters the plastic surface to open it.
It is important to underline that the application of the metallic tongue assures the envelope’s integrity and doesn’t weaken it.
The system has been designed to assure the coupling between the envelope and the metallic tongue to avoid detachments that would reduce the system’s utility. Anyway it is possible to split the tongue from the envelope for example for recycling reasons (metal/plastic separation).
Nowadays, common plastic envelops are opened with tools like cutters or scissors or using breaking parts prearranged on their surface. The use of external tools is often uncomfortable while the arrangement of weak parts sometimes is not allowed for safety reasons or it doesn’t work if the envelope’s material is too hardy.
The system solves the problems of the traditional techniques assuring an opening device always available and preserving the envelope’s integrity.
The system has been studied and designed to fit common packaging lines. Furthermore, industrial costs and production processes has been roughly studied and valuated.
