A small Polish company has developed an automatic ash tester. The hardware collects ash samples directly from exhaust fumes ducts in real-time manner. Details
The automatic ash sample tester is a device for continuous ash sample collection from exhaust fumes. The collection process is due to the pressure drop developed between an exhaust fumes duct and the atmospheric pressure that results in the fume suction into a sampler. All sucked-in ash particles are then separated in a cyclone type device and fall down on to the bottom of a container underneath the cyclone. The fumes are reversed back to the fumes duct.
The flow nozzle location of the pressure drop control feature can be adjusted and allows for a precise ash collection timing control.The tester features a self-cleaning system for the device flow paths that protects it against:
- ash obstruction developments in the channels during boiler's stoppage,
- hot ash spillage on testing person's hands.
One important feature of the system is the ease of use collection process. The collection process comes down to exchanging the ash containers.
The hardware is a reliable stainless steel device and is rid of moving parts. It requires minimum supervision and maintenance. Continuous sampling and ash sample qality aside, the device may be a part of a monitoring uncombusted coal content in fly-ash.The company is seeking industrial partners and companies from heat and power generation plants interested in further development of the technology and testing of new applications.
