Permeation tube technology provides a highly reliable and cost effective method of producing stable and accurate gas concentrations. The tubes enable the generation of vapor from solid, liquid and gas phase standards with fully adjustable concentration levels ranging from parts per million (ppm) to parts per billion (ppb). Permeation tubes comprise a small quantity of the chemical sealed inside a short length of fluoropolymer tubing (see Figure 1). The tubing wall serves as a permeable membrane through which the pure sample diffuses at a known rate. Precise temperature and flow control of the external air/nitrogen feed gas provides a pure, stable and repeatable output.
The system can replace multiple gas cylinders resulting in significant cost and space savings as well as eliminating hazards associated with cylinders.
Complex gas mixtures can be accurately generated through the use of multiple tubes. The gas generator platform is an ideal tool for numerous applications, ranging from calibration of explosive detectors in military and homeland defence to validation of personal monitors in industrial health and safety.
The system is supplied with an easy-to-use concentration calculator to determine operating and calibration points.
