Tannins (particularly Pine Tannin) sought for development of a novel bio-polymer

A UK company that is active in the development of bio-polymers is currently involved in a project to find functional natural materials for inclusion in a sustainable polymer matrix. The company is seeking prospective partners that can provide a source of tannin products, particularly pine tannin, for inclusion in their initial screening and evaluation programme. A technical cooperation or commercial agreement (with technical assistance) is envisaged.

The UK company is developing a new technology for the manufacture of bio-polymers. As part of an ongoing development project they are specifically looking to evaluate different tannin products. They are particularly interested in pine tannins, but other tree (e.g. spruce) and plant sources would also be of interest.

Prospective partners are sought who can provide a long-term sustainable supply of tannins. However, in the first instance the UK company is requesting samples of tannins that they can evaluate in their current natural polymer screening programme.

Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Samples (at least 500g) plus some supporting technical information will be required. At the current time the degree of purity is not critical. The UK company is willing to enter into a materials transfer and/or evaluation agreement. The partner will need to be in a position to provide a longer term supply of the tannin in the event of a positive outcome in the evaluation programme.
