Detector of humidity and wire cuts in case of mechanical pipe damage

A Croatian company has developed a device for monitoring preinsulated pipes used in water heat piping systems. The system detects humidity and wire cuts in case of mechanical pipe damage, and sends reports on changes by text messages to the designated mobile phone. One of the advantages of this device is that the SMS reporting reduces the number of preventive checks and visits to locations to identify possible faults.

Details

The device for monitoring the state of pre-insulated pipes is connected to pre-insultated pipes that in their insulation have two wires for the detection of humidity in pipes and the detection of wire cuts which may have occurred as a result of mechanical damage. The device is connected to the wires in pre-insulated pipes on one side and to a mobile phone on the other. It is connected to the wires at a designated location. If humidity enters the pipes, the resistance between the pipes and wires is reduced, and the device sends an SMS message about the detected change. In case of wire cuts, the device also sends an SMS message about the incident. The whole system is powered from the mobile phone battery, which is constantly recharged. In case of a power cut, the device also sends a message about the termination of charging, and remains operational as long as the mobile phone is charged from the battery alone.

Innovative Aspects:
Communication by SMS messages on the changes in the levels of humidity in preinsulated pipeas and other mechanical damage allows for a remote control of possible changes and daily monitoring of the situation in selected locations.
