A Dutch company developed a robotised and cost-effective production technology for the manufacturing of fibreglass reinforcements in the final shape of the product. The technology enables the use of the environment-friendly closed moulding production processes. It is also viable for the production of low volumes. The company is interested in commercial agreements with technical assistance and license agreements.

A small Dutch company developed a cost-effective production technology for the manufacturing of fibreglass reinforcements in the final shape of the product. A special robotised spray gun sprays chopped fibreglass, combined with a specially developed binder, on a mould. The chopped glassfibre strands are held in place by air suction though the perforated mould. Heat treatment of the combination of glassfibre and binder binds the whole into a single part, a pre-form. For large-series production of the pre-forms the production process can easily be further automated. The pre-forms can also be used in products made of polyurethane and related production technologies.

The technology combines the benefits of large-scale composite production technology with the low-cost mould technologies used in small to medium-sized production volumes used by most of the SMEs active in the composites sector.
