Kurzfassung
A large US consumer products company operating on a global scale is looking for technologies that can provide a unique tactile sensory experience when formulated into shower liquid applications. They are looking for technical cooperation, license agreements and manufacturing agreements.
Details
A US leader in consumer healthcare products seeks to identify and develop technologies that will singularly distinguish their body wash products.
Sensory cues are an important part of the showering experience. They make showering more pleasurable, transform mood, and inspire confidence/loyalty in a product. Products that provide distinctive sensory effects during and/or after use may be perceived as having added functionality and value. Cleansing products used in the shower are actually only a small portion of what constitutes the overall showering experience. The huge volume of water used produces sensorial experiences of moisture, temperature, and pressure (a massage).
Proposed technologies should be compatible or work synergistically with the volume, temperature and pressure of water to both provide a unique/pleasurable experience and also signal the consumer of possible benefits that may not be otherwise noticed. Novel technologies that can address these challenges are of great interest.
Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:
• Micro-encapsulation of sensory cue materials.
• Novel materials that trigger nerve-ending response.
• Surface interaction agents.
The following approaches are not of interest:
• Colour changes.
• Menthol-based approaches.
• Painful sensations.
• Aroma.
• Devices.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The successful technology will:
• Produce a positive sensory cue during and/or after use. Cues of interest include:
- Sense of warmth after showering.
- Tingling.
- Cooling sensation after showering.
- Self-foaming action.
- Leaves skin feeling silky smooth.
• Be compatible with standard liquid body wash formulations.
• Demonstrate shelf stability of at least 3 months at 45 °C.
• Function in a highly aqueous environment (e.g. shower).
• Be non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin areas.
• Not affect cleansing action or perception of being clean.
• Be safe for consumer use and environmentally inert.
• Possess sufficient safety data to permit its use in a body wash product.
Existing technologies are preferred. However, approaches in developmental stages will also be considered, providing there is strong evidence of functionality. The company is not interested in theoretical approaches.
Technologiesektor | - Seifen, Waschmittel - Spezialchemikalien, Zwischenprodukte - Pflege, Hygiene, Schönheit |
Kooperationstyp | - License Agreement - Joint further development - Testing of new applications - Adaptation to specific needs - Absolutely novel process Responses from companies (small to large), academic researchers, other research institutes, entrepreneurs, or inventors are welcome. The technology sought may either be ready for testing and transfer to commercial use or require further development. Collaboration will begin with a proof-of-concept phase in which prototype formula development, demonstration of sensory effect as well as preliminary cost of goods analysis will tale place. Continued investment of resources requires a positive demonstration of the sensory effect, evidence that the sensory cue material can be formulated into a liquid body wash, safety/toxicology data, and evidence that a fully formulated body wash product can be priced within the range of current commercial shower products. If that is done successfully, company and partner will move on to product development: formulation into liquid body wash, scale-up of sensory cue material, and consumer validation. |
