An Estonian SME has developed a compact computer (PDA size) offering high computing power, especially for digital signal processing, power-efficient, battery powered, accepting a wide range of peripherals using multiple micro-USB ports, optional touch screen. The SME is looking for a licensing agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.

The compact PDA-sized (personal digital assistant) power-efficient computing platform is based on a Texas Instruments OMAP35xx dual-core processor (3530, 3525 or 3503, as required). It offers “laptop computing power” in a hand-held device. The firmware is a specially tailored embedded Linux, with drivers for a wide range of peripherals which can be connected via multiple micro-USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports. In one incarnation, it provides a wearable AV (audio-video) surveillance device with optional wireless streaming, 5 hours of continuous recording and Wifi streaming, on-board recording on microSD (Secure Digital) card up to 32 gigabytes, H.264 video compression, touch screen for control and video playback. The incarnation integrates with a third-party (EU-based) Wifi positioning system to offer indoor location and/or a GPS (Global Positioning System) module for outdoor positioning.
The compact computer is also being integrated into a kidney dialysis apparatus to provide the required data-processing platform. It is also being adapted for a server room monitoring system as an autonomous hub for gathering and transmitting status data, with battery backup, and the option of visual surveillance.
Bluetooth remote control is available for quick and convenient control of the main functions.
A wide range of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms are available as standard. Special-purpose algorithms such as required by video content analysis (VCA) can be provided on demand or in cooperation with customers' own experts.
Custom Linux applications can be run in the Linux user space.
