Fluorescence-amplifying thin film optical coating
Kurzfassung
A French consortium of applied research center and diagnostic company has developed a simple, cheap and powerful technology for enhancing fluorescence emitted by chemical and/or biological sample on support surface. This technology is suitable for microplates, microarrays, biochips, slides, lab on-a-chip readable with fluorescence imaging by transparency. Technology is available for licensing.
Details
The technology developed allows to double the fluorescence emitted light towards the imaging system:
•A thin layer of relatively high refractive index with flexible thickness is placed between sample and support
•Fluorescence emitted light front tagged hybridized molecules on surface is concentrated towards the substrate, instead of emitting in all directions
Innovative Aspects:
The main advantages of the technology are:
-2-fold enhancement of signal detection
-Can be easily adapted to a large panel of transparent substrates:
glass, quartz, silica or polymeric slides
-Can be made from a large panel of materials:
silicon nitride, silicon carbide, oxides of aluminum...
-Can be bound with different probes
-Allows fast-track analysis by enabling to avoid the washing step
-No change needed in the imaging system
-Industrial process: addition of one simple production step for a little overcost
The fields of applications for this technology are:
-Microplates, microarrays, biochips, slides, lab on chip readable with fluorescence imaging by transparency
-Biological and/or chemical analysis can be performed in particular for Life Sciences, In Vitro Diagnosis, Transportable tests. The technology developed allows point of care analysis (near patient, bedside or extra laboratory testing) as well as industrial tests (agribusiness, environment,...)
