Novel Wide Band Array

A North West UK region University has developed a novel, low cost, lightweight, extremely wide band array antenna with dual polarisation capability. This design has the additional advantages of improved high data rate communication, multifunctionality and higher resolution. The University is seeking appropriate partners to further develop this technology and bring to market under licence.

Details

A North West UK region University has successfully demonstrated proof of concept (in the range 400MHz - 1.4GHz) and scalability of a novel, low cost, extremely wide band array antenna with dual polarisation capability. A frequency ratio >3.1 and scalability to 3.0GHz - 10GHz with an upper frequency limit of 60GHz - 100 GHz capability means that the antenna has applications in a number of fields, including; mobile/marine communications; defence/security; radra imaging and healthcare monitoring. The antenna can operate as a steerable array, transmit or recieve or both, has low levels of of cross polarisation and can carry multiple services simutaneously. In addition to lower cost and ease of manufacture, the reduce size and weight of the antenna gives greater ease of deployment in the field.
The University is seeking suitable partners from the communications sector to further develop and offer joint licences.
