Kurzfassung
A UK SME has developed a system in which a stolen vehicle can be immobilised from a remote monitoring station if it is reported as being stolen. A patent has been published for the concept system and prototype hardware has been developed. They are now seeking partners in the automotive electronics industry to further develop the system and turn it into a commercial product.
Details
A UK SME has published a patent for a vehicle security system which operates by jamming the communication between an electronic starting key and an engine control unit (ECU). The jamming device is operated by a signal from a vehicle tracking unit which causes the jamming device to emit a radio signal which blocks the receiver on the ECU.
The vehicle tracking unit would be instructed to produce the activation pulse on command from a remote monitoring station, the decision being based on the vehicle having being reported stolen and determined to be in a safe place in which to be disabled. The system will not stop a running vehicle for safety reasons, but will prevent a vehicle from being restarted.
Prototype hardware has been developed and some testing undertaken, and now a partner is required to help further develop the product. The partner should have a good knowledge of vehicle security and vehicle electronics, and be able to develop the product to cover a wide range of vehicles, carry out testing, and turn the prototype design in to a commercial product.
Following product realisation, the SME is willing to licence the system to the partner, and already have strong interest for mandating this system in the UK commercial vehicles market.
Innovative Aspects:
This system can remotely disable a vehicle safely under control from a remote monitoring station via a vehicle tracking device. With information from the tracking device the vehicle can quickly be located and recovered before it can be removed.
