Integrated photovoltaic apparatus suitable for roofs and walls

An Italian company working in the energy field has developed an integrated photovoltaic apparatus - suitable for roofs and walls of old and new buildings – aimed at the production of electric energy with an excellent level of architectural integration. The apparatus utilizes standard photovoltaic elements increasing their nominal performance. The company is looking for other firms interested in licensing agreements for the production and commercialization of this apparatus.

Details

The “Integrated Photovoltaic System” is composed of a tile equipped with an oriented photovoltaic element that enables the production of electric energy out of the solar energy hitting the roofs and walls of buildings. The tile is able to optimize the performance of the photovoltaic element by exploiting a larger illuminated surface compared to the other systems on the market. The tile is made by casting a plastic or composite material. Thanks to the possibility of painting the tile, this apparatus can be adapted to many different and particular architectural environments without sacrificing the appearance or the functionality of the surface it is applied on.

Innovative Aspects:
- The usable surface for the photovoltaic element can be above 40% of the total surface (i.e. on roofs split in four parts with a 20% slope).
- The tile can be used for covering any kind of surface (slope) with a uniform finish and color.
- The problem of shading is solved thanks to the fact that the position and orientation of the photovoltaic element are optimized.
- The apparatus produces a coherent and homogeneous aesthetic effect.
- The tile can take different colors and finish.
- The specific weight of the surface covered is reduced.
- The apparatus is resistant to wind, sun, rain and hail.
