Kurzfassung
A Russian university R&D team developed a high pressure fuel pump for application in modern storage cell fuel supply systems in Common Rail-type diesel engines. The pump can be used in the existing engines; it does not require design changes in fuel supply system. At the same time, the engine capacity increases; and fuel consumption, the amount of harmful exhausts and operation noisiness are reduced. The authors seek partners for license or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Details
The offered high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) is designed for application in modern storage cell fuel supply systems for Common Rail type diesel engines, where the fuel supply distribution among the cylinders is realized by computer systems controlling the fuel injector operation. The HPFP task is creating a high pressure of injection (up to 150 MPa) and pressure control, according to the engine operation mode. The available HPFPs are powered by the engine crankshaft, hence their output depends on the number of the engine revolutions.
The offered HPFP is a two-stage pump with an individual electric drive containing a booster pump and a high pressure blower pump with a static plunger of two-way operation. The HPFP has a new design of a converter of rotary motion into reciprocating and vice versa. It enables mounting the pump at the electric motor’s rotor, combining a booster pump and high pressure blower pump into a single assembly unit.
The high pressure blower pump is a duplex pump with a static plunger accomplishing four working strokes during one electric motor rotor revolution. This enables minimizing the loads in the pump, the required drive capacity and the fuel fluctuation.
The pump is simple in design and compact; it is mounted on the electric motor’s rotor with the controlled number of revolutions. The pump does not contain cams or reverse motion springs, which reduces its noisiness and power loss. The pump is simple in production, since no high accuracy of the pump element manufacturing is required.
Using the HPFP in diesel engines (vehicles, agricultural machines, etc.) enables to improve considerably their performance and the efficiency factor, to reduce the fuel consumption, exhaust toxicity, fuel gear cost.
Innovative Aspects:
The HPFP contains the following innovations:
- the design of the individual drive and the pump/piston drive mechanism mounting;
- the design of high pressure discharge stage;
- the principle of controlling the fuel injection via the pressure.
The advantages of the offered pump are:
- a more efficient computer control of the fuel supply to cylinders process, which enables to enhance capacity, torsion torque and efficiency factor, reduce fuel consumption, exhaust toxicity, engine operation noisiness;
- reduction of power losses to HPFP drive due to the absence of reciprocating springs and idle strokes in the mechanism;
- independence of injection pressure on the engine rotation frequency;
- absence of throttling and fuel overheating;
- the pump design simplification and adaptability to manufacture;
- production cost reduction;
- installing the HPFP on the existing engines can transfer them into a higher ecology class without their considerable modernization.
