Kurzfassung
A large US company is looking for proposals for the measurement of flame-driven acoustics on large scale test apparatus. They are interested in contract research.
Details
Burning fuels in a combustor is a step in the generation of power in gas turbines. Vibrations or sound are created during combustion and in some cases lead to equipment damage. It is important to design combustors to minimize the harmful acoustic properties under a variety of operating conditions. Unfortunately, modeling and simulation techniques contain many uncertainties and therefore many measurements of flame properties are required to validate numerical codes in interative design efforts.
Test rigs for such studies typically include the ability to track chemical species by laser measurements across the flame. Microphones and speakers to measure and probe the sonic and acoustic environment. Chemical properties are tracked by hydroxyl radical species concentrations. To provide appropriate validation, test rigs capable of handling 500 kW at atmospheric pressure or at linearly proportionate powers at higher pressures are required.
Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:
- Novel or exceptional instrumentation capabilities are of great interest.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The successful vendor of a test apparatus will offer:
- A test apparatus operating at a miminum of 500 kW at one atmosphere
- The ability to install various burner interfaces for testing
- The ability to measure velocity, temperature and chemical species in the flame using laser spectroscopic techniques
- The ability to measure dynamic proprieties up to 500 Hz and to synchronize measurements with each other (phase locked measurements)
- The ability to measure sound (50-2500 Hz) at multiple frequencies and locations
- The ability to apply acoustic energy to modulate the flame (speakers)
- Data collection and delivery.
