PS: FP7 2012-two stage- Ecosystem services ACROSS locales, sectors and scales: Mitigating conflicts in provisioning of food, biofuels and freshwater versus regulating services.

A German university intends to submit a FP7-ENV project in order to investigate trade-offs and synergies of food production (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) and biofuel production versus regulating services. They are looking for a SME responsible for the Dissemination of Work Package activities. The SME should have to organize workshops, events with stakeholders, publication of articles etc.

A German University intends to submit a FP7 project in order to investigate trade-offs and synergies of food production (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) and biofuel production versus regulating services. This theme links to the EC Water Framework Directive, the EC Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) etc., and all the actors behind those policies in the EU, but also beyond.
Coherent protocols to provide datasets are based on the tool „InVEST” (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs) on a regional scale in combination with Life Cycle Assesment to account for global feedbacks of EU policies (e.g., extensification of EU land use due to payments for ecosystem services may trigger increasing import of biomass from developing countries).
Drivers to be analyzed during the project are market change, land use change, climate change and structural factors controlling ecosystem services and inter alia land cover & biodiversity to be quantified with remote sensing over larger areas. Urban management is brought in on the demand side for ecosystem services.
