A UK company has patented and launched a simple fire safety device complementing smoke alarms. Triggered by the sound of smoke alarms, the high intensity LED shines through smoke in case of a fire. Fixed to children’s bedroom door surrounds, the LED light helps fire fighters rescue young children as they often hide in their bedrooms. European manufacturers and distributors of fire safety equipment and smoke alarms are sought for licencing or commercial agreements with technical assistance.

In case of a house fire the most worrying and important task is to bring the children out to safety. This can be a daunting task for the parent or the child minder who may be inhaling toxic fumes already. Similarly, for a fire fighter who is well equipped, locating the children is still very difficult in the smoke and the noise.
It has been well evidenced that in case of a fire children tend to hide in their bedrooms. Finding the childs bedroom in the shortest possible time is first and often critical step in the evacuation process.
A UK company has patented and launched a very simple device to solve the problem. The small device (see the Picture) is easily fixed to the child’s bedroom door surround.
It is activated by the sound of a smoke alarm and shines high intensity LED strobe light that is visible through at least 7 metres of smoke.
The device has been tested by and won appraisal from Fire Chiefs and other relevant industry bodies. It is just being launched in the UK market, targeted firstly at parents with young children. In addition there are various commercial markets and applications including hotels, local authorities, housing associations and public buildings.
Manufacturers and/or distributors who sell smoke alarms in various European territories are sought. The new device is a good complementation to smoke alarms.
