Kurzfassung

A Global Electronics Supplier invites proposals for miniature magnetic flux density detectors. They are interested in product acquisition, funded development, proof of concept leading to scale up to manufacturing leading to potential sales.



Details

Measurement of magnetic flux is critical to a number of devices. Electromagnetic actuators of all kinds use Hall Effect sensors to measure speed and position. For miniature devices, Hall Effect sensors are of great interest, but increasing demands for miniaturization are pressing the limits of fabrication technology.
New manufacturing, materials, designs are required for the next step in size reduction.

Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:
•Alternative physical principles to Hall effect sensors
•Reduced thickness device packaging and fabrication technology.

Approaches that are not of interest include:
•Sensors using superconductors.

Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The successful sensor technology will:
•Measure magnetic flux density in the range of -2.5 to +2.5 tesla
•Provide signal to noise ratio of >80dB
•Sense flux through a frequency range from 0 Hz (DC) to 100 kHz
•Be packaged in a device less than 200 µ thick
•Provide a linear measurement with less than 0.1% non-linearity across the measured range
•Occupy a minimal surface area
Sensors that approach but do not meet some of these requirements are of interest.

Phase 2 Testing prototype devices.

Phase 3 Industrialization of successful prototype.

CRITERIA FOR MOVING FROM PHASE 1 TO PHASE 2
Demonstration that parameters specified here can be met, and that secondary parameters that are less critical are within tolerable ranges.
