Kurzfassung
An Italian company developed a technology for obtaining PVC (polyvinyl chloride) granules, both rigid and soft, with the external appearance of a metal. These materials are suitable for the realisation of extruded and co-extruded profiles with strong brightness of the surfaces, especially for the furniture sector. This company is interested in getting in contact with companies interested in adopting this material in their own production.
Details
The compounds developed by an Italian company are successfully diffused in the furniture sector, but they could be employed in other indoor sectors, where the aesthetic impact of the plastic components is important. They could be both rigid and soft materials, in a wide range of composition, physical and mechanical properties. The rigid compounds are Pb-stabilised but also heavy-metal-free and they can also be impact-resistant. The soft compounds are heavy metal free and they can be formulated to obtain a range of Shore A from 55 to 95. This line offers more than twenty silver tonalities with an aluminium effect, golden tonalities and also copper tonalities. Moreover, it is possible to obtain the same tonality for rigid and soft compounds for co-extrusion.
Innovative Aspects:
The bright tonalities are obtained by the development of specific formulations and a careful and original choice of basic pigments, and a specific transformation method of the raw materials mixed with these pigments permits to enhance their metallic effect. The use of a compound belonging to the metallic line can provide:
- Strong surface brightness, with a metallic effect.
- Great variety of colours and tonalities.
- Possibility to choose heavy metal free compounds.
