A small Swedish company has developed a new way to store electrical cords integrated in trailers/caravans, vehicles, machines, etc. It is a substitute device for cable reels or the standard cord used to connect electrical appliances to energy sources. The simplicity of the device and its lack of moving parts allows for low production cost and long service life. It is compact and can be adapted to the physical shape and dimension needed. They seek a license agreement or technical cooperation.

Details

The device comprises a rigidified electric connection cord and a thin receptacle for housing it. The cord can be manually extracted from the receptacle and inserted in it after concluded usage in a quick and easy manner. A simple curbing arrangement guides the cord in the receptacle until a complete housing is achieved.

Potential application for the technology is the storage of electrical cords on car trailers and caravans. Or other electrical device cords that need to be stored away.

The company is now looking for a trailer or caravan producer that will add this device on new versions of existing models. The Swedish company is looking for a technical cooperation agreement to develop the prototype to a product ready for the market, based on their patent.

This storage device replaces all kind of separate cords needed to connect vehicles (engine heaters), trailers/caravans or other electrical devices to an electrical outlet. The cord is hidden and neatly arranged, ready to use instantly.

Main Advantages:
This device arranges the connection cord in a compact and aesthetically acceptable manner: It facilitates user accessibility to the cords and consequently eliminates the risk of damage or loss. Existing methods are expensive and/or complicated (reels) or require a relatively large housing space. Although the device is manual, its use is straightforward and it offers a more reliable alternative to reels when shorter cord length than 3 m is to be used. It can also replace the usual connection cord in many products as industrial and household applications, for example welding machines, trailers, high-pressure car washing machines, household appliances such as mixers…etc.

This device increases the market value for the products it is applied on. The customer will experience a higher level of convenience concerning the cord use. It could also be as an option on trailers/caravans, sold separately through retailers of car accessories and leisure equipment.
