A Romanian research institute offers micro-lenslets for infrared radiation intended for the control of spreading of the light beams emitted by optical fibres. Micro-lenses are also employed for controlling radiation patterns from light emitting devices. Advantages: high-quality lenslets at low costs. The institute is looking for industrial partners (optical fibre equipment producers) for commercial agreement and research institutes for development of technology testing new applications.

Details

In the photonic technology, the most important fact is the control of spreading of the light beams emitted by optical fibres. A micro-lens can be attached to a fibre for such a purpose. Micro-lenses (lenslets) are also employed for controlling radiation patterns from light emitting devices. The photolithographic technique using chalcogenide glasses, developed by Saitoh et al. (2000) is intended for preparation of automatically positioned micro-lenses on fibre-end centres.
We offer lenslets made of chalcogenide materials and technology of gluing on the ends of the optical fibres for focusing the IR radiation. It may be useful in ophthalmologic laser surgery or in various laser apparatus. The size distribution in diameter of the lenslets varies between 210 - 400 microns, having focal distances in the range of 66 - 124 microns.
