A Latvian research group has developed a novel functional intermetallic coating for protection and renovation of machine parts that operate at high temperatures. The coatings are made in plasma by alloys based on aluminium and titanium. The research group is looking for partners interested in application of the novel coatings and search for technical cooperation.

A Latvian research group has developed a novel functional intermetallic coating for protection and renovation of machine parts that operate at high temperatures. These coatings are made in plasma by alloys based on aluminium and titanium. The maximum coating thickness is 40 micrometers. Coatings increase 2-3 times the resource of the machine parts operating in high temperatures and aggressive environments. The technological process of the coating is simple, stable and easy to realise.
Innovative Aspects:
It is possible to obtain coatings of variable composition, structure and thickness suitable for specific working temperatures and stresses. The coatings are highly plastic and thermally stable. These coatings have 2-3 times greater high-temperature resistance than coatings made by alitising.
