A French laboratory has developed a process for coating magnetic metallic nano-objects with a silica layer. The key point is the elimination of oxidation factors from metal preserving the core magnetic properties under organic and ambient atmosphere. Oncology is particularly concerned for detection, display and treatment of very small tumours. These properties are also of high interest for in microelectronics domain. A partner is sought for developing the process under a license agreement.

Details

A French laboratory has developed a new fabrication process, in organic medium, allowing the formation of a silica layer around magnetic metallic nano-objects (Fe-Co).

The key point of this innovation is the elimination of oxidation factors from metal during the step of silica formation preserving the core magnetic properties.

The use of magnetic core/shell nano-objects enabling to maintain the magnetic properties of the metallic core under organic and ambient atmosphere (air and humidity exposure) is a challenging issue for biomedical domain. Oncology is particularly concerned for detection, display and treatment of very small tumours.

These properties are also of high interest for applications in microelectronics area.
