A French laboratory has developed a new fabrication process, in organic medium, allowing the formation of a silica layer around magnetic metallic nano-objects (Fe-Co).The key point of this innovation is the elimination of oxidation factors from metal during the step of silica formation preserving the core magnetic properties.
The use of magnetic core/shell nano-objects enabling to maintain the magnetic properties of the metallic core under organic and ambient atmosphere (air and humidity exposure) is a challenging issue for biomedical domain. Oncology is particularly concerned for detection, display and treatment of very small tumours.
These properties are also of high interest for applications in microelectronics area.
